There are lots of ways to use something for ideas other than its intended purpose. Piano sheet music is very visually pleasing and can be used in a number of different creative ways to make decorations or bring other ideas to life. The aesthetic is very much in line with current 'shabby chic' trend, which is a soft and ethereal nod to a vintage or rustic style.

A great piece of furniture with sheet music print can be a real conversation piece in the home and is easy to do by yourself. Get a side table or coffee table to repurpose and give it a few more years of good use. Decoupage the music paper onto the table using Mod Podge to get the print sealed.

Distress the item a little to really create an authentic look that is vintage. There are antique stains available in most home stores that will finish the piece of furniture off beautifully. The stain will also seep into different parts of the paper and the random dark spots will have a lovely aged finish.

Christmas time is a great time to use sheet music to decorate, especially if it is carols. Create an awesome wreath out of the paper by rolling each sheet into a conical shape from the corner. Snip of the ends of some of the cones to get shorter cones and use them to layer up in a circular shape. Use a wooden circle base or simply cut one out of cardboard for an inexpensive alternative.

Glue the cones side by side in different layers until you have completely covered the circle base. The end result is a beautiful musical star. You can add a special decoration to the middle to finish the wreath, or simply tie a huge bow out of red fabric for a finishing touch that matches the season. Be extra dramatic by aging the pages in the oven or with a tea stain before you begin.

Music paper can also be used to create cute little ornaments, again particularly effective during the festive season. Create papier mache ornaments for the tree in different shapes and sizes, such as little boxes wrapped in ribbon like gifts or unique baubles decorated with scroll patterns in glitter. These are also very fun for children to get involved with and help make.

There are some really unique and wonderful gifts that can be made using this type of paper, that are also useful. For example, what about creating placemats for the dining table using large sheets of piano music? This would work beautifully with a vintage or monochrome themed room and is very easy to create with a little laminating or chic finish. It could even be part of wedding decor for the reception using the couple's wedding song for a personal touch.

Use the couple's favorite songs to add a personal touch to the decor for a rustic wedding by wrapping mason jars with candles in them in sheet music. Use the jars to line the aisle for the bride or on guests' tables as centerpieces. They could be placed strategically throughout the wedding venue as great accents.
